Car Shipping Costs and Cheap Car Delivery
Shipping your car is not cheap. That’s already a well-known fact, even for those outside the business or who rarely get such services. While you might almost never see things like coupons for car transport services, there are some other simple steps you could take to help minimize the cost of sending your car somewhere else.
Prepare, Prepare, Prepare
When it comes to saving on car transport costs, few methods are better than doing things early. Aside from saving you the troubles associated with doing things at the last minute, it saves you money in more than one way.
First, there are the rates themselves. These car shipping companies like clients who get everything done and arranged way beforehand. Therefore, you’re likelier to get special offers and promotional rates if you contact them sooner. And you’d better think twice before arranging things with them at the last minute. Most, if not all, of them charge extra for rush services.
The second and less obvious benefit is flexibility. When you arrange them early, it’ll be easier for you to ask for concessions or special arrangements regarding things like the pickup location or the way the car is handled. This is because they have a long time to prepare for it and because, as said above, these companies like early clients. Conversely, they’re also loads more inflexible when you ask for rush work.
Cheaper Options
You can also save on car transport costs by getting the more affordable services. After all, any respectably sized car shipping company should be able to offer at least a range of options for you to choose from. Mixing and matching the types of services you get should be able to help you get a package that’s right for your budget.
The usual variable is the pickup and delivery. The full package of services usually includes the company picking up the car from your address and then delivering it to the destination address. However, for a more budget-friendly and no frills package, you could opt to do away with that and then drop off and/or pickup the car at and from their station or local branch. Doing either or both should get you a considerable decrease in what you have to pay.
Another possible variable is the type of carrier vehicle. Closed trucks are always more expensive than open ones, so get the latter if you’re not that finicky about the condition you receive your car in. If your car has an unusual shape or is quite heavy, try removing the unnecessary extensions and then just bringing those separately.
Shipping your car is certainly never cheap. However, with a few steps here and there, you can make the whole process easier for you and your bank account. All it takes is preparation, consideration and a little compromise.
